Scoring

       Scoring is the process of cutting lines into the floor to create a design or grid. Tile grids can be square or diagonal to the walls  . A wood plank look can also be created with scoring.

Scoring is an option with stained concrete and will enhance to appearence of the floor. Scoring is recomended when using multi-colors in one space. Options for designs are vast and only limited by your imagination and budget.

     Scoring can be scheduled before frame construction begins if you desire a tile grid or wood look that covers all or part of the floor and you prefer the lines to go under the walls or cabinets. Otherwise the scoring can be done at the same time as the staining. A border will be scored around walls and cabinets to complete the design. Borders are not recommended for the wood floor design.

     Designs are usually layed out with pencil and chaulk lines and approved by the client prior to the actual cutting . Photos are available for review if design ideas are desired or we welcome your original ideas.

     Scoring takes one or two days depending on size and scope of the work.

Staining

     Staining is the application of chemicals that react with elements of the concrete to create the desired color/colors on the raw slab. This is a wet, dirty process and should be done prior to cabinets and trim, however most stain manufacturers of concrete stain recommend a 28 day curing time for new concrete. We can come at anytime after the curing time, however an increase in cost may be incurred if millwork and other flooring must be protected before our work can begin. Staining takes 3 or 4 days to complete allowing for prep and drying times.
